I have posted this into off topic as I can not see any reference to Vodafone Home phone and Broadband.
I have install the router and all is working but there one thing that is missing from the setting of the VDSL router that being a function to turn off DHCP, I have for the pasted 10 year had my own network running at home with a fully working server that is my DHCP & DNS server but for the first time in history I have just sign up for 18 month and got a bloody router that has no function in the GUI settings pages to turn OFF the DHCP server. So for now I will have to wait for 18 months before I can change ISP. thanks vodafone tech team for missing this one. If there is anyone out there that can offer me a firmware update to give me the function to turn OFF DHCP then please post it.

I badly want to use my own router and not the VF device. I moved to VF because the ADSL speed is double my previous supplier (Sky) I guess because VF has its own kit in BT exchange and access to faster backbone courtesy of the old Mercury C&W infrastructure, oh yes, and and it's very much cheaper! The VF router has caused me some problems with a fairly comlicated home network consisting of media servers, NAS boxes and fixed IP address devices. I spoke with technical support on Saturday 25th June. There is indeed a login/password combination which I tried but I got CHAP authentication errors. I am going to use the VF router as a DSL modem and bridge to my own router. However, I need to turn off the VF box's DHCP. Tech support told me the latest Firmware release has that funcitonality. Good. However, the release has some bugs and has been withdrawn temporarily. I thin kthat release is 5.4.8.1.271.1.41 and they may have rolled-back to 5.4.8.1.160.13.77 (truly the most complex version numbering I have ever seen!). I understand the firmware is automatically pushed-out to customers' routers, presumably overnight. I have asked to be upgraded to the version with DHCP switch because I'll live with bugs which apparently aren't critical.

Just called in to try and get my device upgarded and told they could not upgarde to 5.4.8.1.271.1.41 as it was closed. No dates given as to when the rest of us might see an update that fixes the issues... oh well.

I still have the old firmware. I only joined 10 days ago.
Not sure if I should cancel and find a new ISP.

If you can find a cheaper deal then I would look at leaving, even with the new firmware there are still issue, I have found upnp is not working very well and port forwarding is not easy to setup.
I also had a copy of my old firmware config file and when I tried to restore to the new firmware it would not work.
If it was not for the fact that I'm still getting a very good deal I would have left Vodafone months ago.

I still have my old Netgear N900 router which I used to use with BT Infinity (I dumped their usless homehub years ago).
With the current vodafone firmware, is it impossible for me to use the vofafone modem with the netgear as the router?

There is an old saying about getting what you pay for and that seems very apt here.
Yes, Vodafone are cheap but if you have anything other than the most basic setup then it seems unsuitable. I know the vast majority of people will be happy with this set up as it suits their basic needs but there is a growing number of people with more complex home network setups, it's not just the preserve of geeks anymore.
Maybe Vodafone don't want those type of people. Athough I would suggest they are less likely to seek support from Vodafone in the long run, they have made a decision to enforce using their supplied equipment and all that goes with it. Given that all ISP supplied hardware have backdoor access from the WAN, updating firmware in a timely manner is essential. The speed at which they updated the current firmware is appaling, one can only wonder if a security risk discovered in the firmware would also take months to fix.
Ultimately, unless I can control everything at my end including what equipment is used then I don't care how cheap it is, it's a non starter. I'd rather pay more to someone who provides a service more in line with how I think it should be provided.

Good news: Vodafone will supply the radius userid/password if you request it.
This was not straightforward though. I first contacted support by phone, and was told that they could not give it this info - but that he would check with his manager - who said the same thing. On this occasion, the support guy didn't seem to understand much about DHCP etc, so possibly not the correct team. He told me that the only way to obtain the creds was to lodge a formal complaint.
Next contact (I thought I'd try the formal complaint route, though it seemed like an over-the-top option!) was on the live chat, where I was put through to someone in the "Fixed Home Broadband" team. He understood the problem and provided the user/password there and then, no issues.
Now I can ditch the Vodafone Connect router 🙂
So - it can be done, and it wasn't that hard eventually, but you need to get to the right people.

I am afraid this is way out of my reach!

Has anyone had any luck getting the credentials to use your own router yet?
Currently I'm having to reset the router daily otherwise I cannot connect to my server. The router and its firmware are a joke and am currently counting down till I can leave.
If anyone knows any way to get out of the contract without incurring any fees let us know.
