Vodafone connect router DHCP settings

I have posted this into off topic as I can not see any reference to Vodafone Home phone and Broadband.

I have install the router and all is working but there one thing that is missing from the setting of the VDSL router that being a function to turn off DHCP, I have for the pasted 10 year had my own network running at home with a fully working server that is my DHCP & DNS server but for the first time in history I have just sign up for 18 month and got a bloody router that has no function in the GUI settings pages to turn OFF the DHCP server. So for now I will have to wait for 18 months before I can change ISP. thanks vodafone tech team for missing this one. If there is anyone out there that can offer me a firmware update to give me the function to turn OFF DHCP then please post it.

That argument will get you nowhere; Vodafone are selling a domestic product, it is not meant for business use. Most domestic ISPs offer little by the way of actual service level agreements and may actually prohibit business use in their terms and conditions.

It's annoying, because I'm kind of in the same boat with Plusnet; I have a line with them which disconnects several times per day, engineer came out and told me there's nothing wrong with my line. Had a second line installed from BT and it does not disconnect at all, so the problem exists somewhere between the termination box in my house and the network. I use my line for working from home (hence the need for a second line just for stability whilst I'm still in contract with Plusnet).

I disconnected one of my devices to see but it did not show up under my network while trying to connect.

Today I've just checked and I'm now seeing a Xperia Z3 Compact_1421.

All Vodafone needed to do was give people the ability to switch their device to modem mode and put a clear disclaimer in the T&C stating any issues you must switch the device to modern router mode for troubleshooting people who use their own router are normally competent enough but then you have the few who would insist on help using third party router and make a fuss about it so I can see both sides in ny early twenties I worked in broadband support wasn't pleasant.

Oh, and as for providing a modem-only mode, that wouldn't help some of us.

For me, the Vodafone Connect was terribly unreliable on my line.  I had 2-3 disconnects daily, until Openreach's DLM dropped my line to 35Mbit to compensate.

The exact same line had been 100% stable at 50Mbit for four years with BT.

I was fortunate enough to get my PPPoE details from VF months ago and have been happily using the Openreach-supplied modem.  It's been 100% stable ever since.

The Vodafone Connect HHG2500 is fundamentally broken.

Yeah I was fortunate to get mine too using the BT modem too 100℅ stable max speeds

I was also fortunate and have been using a Netgear D7000 without issues ever since.

Its about time Vodafone acknowledge the problems and actively encourage people to use their own equipment.

The way its going I may stay with Vodafone just because I can use my own equipment.

If you're getting several disconnects a day then under ofcom guidelines you are entitled to a penalty free disconnection due to the fact they are unable to fix an obvious fault.

I had a similar problem with BT 3 years ago where they said there was no problem with my line when there obviously was. As soon as I asked for a penalty free disconnect under ofcom guidelines they asked for one more chance to rectify the problem. Engineer came out and spent a couple of hours here instead of the usual ten minutes and I've had a perfectly stable connection since then.

Sometimes they need a nudge to accept there's a problem.

Sorry for the off topic.

HTH

Just wanted to add my own tale of woe really.

Was told late last year on live chat that using my own equipment would not be an issue.  Roll forward to and installation date of today and I have been trying the past two days to get my username/password - on both attmepts I have been told categorically under no circumstances will I be able to get it.

I was told this was because of t&c 6.10 which I am no lawyer but that does not seem relevant, infact quite the opposite and I have also been told it was because of a security breach this was clamped down.

I do not believe this either.

Anyway I now have 30 days from today I suppose (providing it does go live today) to just return it all.  Not sure if that will prompt them to supply details near the end of trial.

As I read 6.10 it would seem to imply that you can use your own equipment. Albeit you might be liable for a "charge" if it's faulty or is misconfigured.

"Your equipment
6.10 If (1) you prevent us from carrying out the necessary maintenance to your Vodafone Broadband and Home Phone Services; (2) you misuse or damage the Vodafone Managed Equipment or the Broadband Equipment; (3) there’s a fault with your own equipment or if you’ve incorrectly configured your own equipment; or (4) you fail to comply with the terms of this Agreement, we may charge you a Service and Maintenance Fee."
