I wonder if anyone has any experience using the Xbox Series S on Vodafone broadband?
We took on Vodafone broadband about a month or two ago. Playing games on the Xbox is fine… but today my son tried to download a new game. It’s the first time since we switched over from Virgin.
He couldn’t get it to download, and now after about 5 hours trying neither can I.
When we set it up on Virgin last Christmas, we just plugged it in and it worked. I “expected” just plugging it into the Vodafone router would just work too, and for a few months it did, whilst he played existing games.
When we try to download a game it just sits there on 0% and 0mbps
Tried removing the cable and using the Vodafone Wifi. 0mbps
Connected to a phone hotspot… it downloads games (a a athetic speed but that’s our phone coverage, but it does download).
On Vodafone router I use OpenDNS (for porn blocking). I tried disabling all filtering on Open DNS and got 0mbps download.
I put in a static internal IP address and set the gateway to the Vodafone router and used the google 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 DNS servers and still zero.
It feels like it something about downloading through the Vodafone network but I cant work it out.
We don’t have a static public IP address (which is a pain with Open DNS ) but I read Vodafone will issue us with one if we ask (although I cant see that that would help this issue)
Has anyone had similar or got any ideas?
I nagged my wife to switch from Virgin to Vodafone (on City Fibre) for the improved upload speeds (downloads were fine on Virgin) and reduced price but I’m really regretting it so far.
